Al Qasimia University, in cooperation with the Labour Standards Development Authority in Sharjah, has launched training programs in the field of labour management. The programs were introduced in line with the initiatives of both AQU and LSDA, seeking to train national leadership for the labour sector and to create an attractive work environment in the Emirate of Sharjah

The partnership comes as a translation of the Memorandum of Understanding between AQU and LSDA to enhance cooperation in the field of training, qualification and human resources development, within their strategic goals to improve the work environment, and sustainable economy.

More than 70 employees in the government and private sector are currently registered in the three training programs; one on labour management, the second on labour accommodation management, and the third on labour crisis management. Launched by the AQU Center for Continuing Education and Development, the three programs were offered at nominal prices. An additional free program for teaching Arabic to non-native speakers was also launched.

The programs are designed to train and qualify some government and private sector employees and to provide them with the appropriate skills and competencies to specialize in the field of labour management. Held in the training hall of Al Qasimia University Library Theater twice a week for one month.

Commenting on the launch of the programs, LSDA Chairman His Excellency Salem Yousef Al Qaseer, stressed the importance of launching these much-needed training programs in the field of labour management.

He said, "LSDA is mandated to set the foundations and standards for training and qualifying labour cadres in coordination with the authorities concerned, as this is one of the important work standards. On this occasion, we call on officials in the government and private sectors to seize the opportunity and encourage their employees to register for these programs. The training and reshaping of the skills of their employees in the field of labour management increase the efficiency and competitiveness of their establishments. The programs increase productivity, profitability, stability, the ability to meet the needs of the labour market, and develop their administrative flexibility to become more productive, innovative, and profitable.”

His Excellency Al Qaseer praised the strong cooperation between LSDA and AQU, resulting in the design of these programs, which will benefit the work environment in the Emirate of Sharjah, hoping to seek more cooperation in the future.

On his part, Prof. Dr. Awwad Al-Khalaf, Director of Al Qasimia University, stressed the importance of these programs, designed in coordination with the LSDA as part of the responsibility that the university assumes in its partnerships with various sectors, including the government sector in the Emirate of Sharjah. He pointed out the importance of these programs, which will play an important role in achieving stability in the work environment. He said these programs come within AQU strategy to extend its academic and educational role by offering programs and training courses, and qualifying cadres in the public and private sectors in line with the Emirate of Sharjah’s directions and aspiration towards sustainable development and qualifying relevant human cadres.

Al-Khalaf said: “The introduction of these specialized programs by the AQU Center of Continuing Education and Development came after continuous coordination with LSDA to design training programs for labour management as well as other training programs for the workers in Sharjah to develop their skills in all fields.”

Prof. Dr. Atta Hassan Abdelrahim, Director of the AQU Center of Continuing Education and Development, confirmed that the center will continue its role in boosting the memorandums of understanding with various institutions, to launch a series of such training programs in the field of labour management, in cooperation with the LSDA. He said these programs, with their various training fields, will contribute to dealing with the topics related to employment management, labour housing, and labour crisis management. The Center will also design programs for teaching Arabic to non-native speakers to facilitate their integration into the Arabic-speaking society, and help the Muslims better understand the Holly Quran.
