The Labour Standards Development Authority in Sharjah (LSDA) congratulated workers and employers on the occasion of Labour Day, celebrated on May first each year, wishing them health and safety, and for the world to overcome the Coronavirus pandemic as soon as possible. In a digital message sent today to workers through their employers and through short text messages, LSDA called for solidarity between employers and workers under these exceptional circumstances.

His Excellency Salem Yousef Al Qaseer, Chairman of the Labour Standards Development Authority said, “Our celebration of the Labour Day is driven by the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, to support workers and provide a decent work environment for them as well as the employers in the Emirate of Sharjah.”

Al Qaseer pointed to the efforts exerted by LSDA in fighting Covide-19 among workers. “Since the global outbreak of the Coronavirus Covid-19, the authority has been launching awareness campaigns for workers and employers of companies and factories in the Emirate of Sharjah to maintain safety and public health and avoid the spread of the pandemic. The authority’s awareness activities came under the supervision of His Excellency Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Executive Council,” he said.

On this occasion, he called for solidarity between workers and employers to overcome the exceptional circumstances, and turn these challenges into opportunities. He called on them to continue observing all preventive measures.
