His Excellency Salem Yousef Al Qaseer, Chairman of the Labour Standards Development Authority in Sharjah, received in his office Tuesday, November 24, 2020, His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Prevention and Safety Authority and the accompanying delegation, and discussed ways to enhance safety and occupational health in Sharjah work environment. The meeting was attended from the LSDA side by Sheikh Muhammad bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Director of the Authority, and from the Prevention and Safety Authority side by Sheikh Saif bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Director of the Authority, as well as a number of officials from both sides. Officials of the two authorities agreed on the importance of integrating their efforts to improve safety and occupational health requirements in Sharjah.
His Excellency Salem Yousef Al Qasaeer said that the main objective of the meeting was to coordinate efforts, exchange views, and define goals and achievements of both authorities and the services they provide to ensure meeting the safety and prevention requirements to reach a decent work environment in the emirate. He said: "The importance of this meeting lies in the nature of the topics discussed to coordinate efforts and work to complement roles in the future plans that each of them will implement to reach the aspired high standard set for both by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad. Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah. His Highnss vision is for the Emirate of Sharjah to be a decent and attractive environment for workers and employers alike”.
He added, "We look forward to such meetings that help us coordinate joint efforts to achieve our goals, and enable us to improve our performance level and achieve more success to serve Sharjah's economy. The future plans that the two authorities will implement during the coming period have been discussed."
On his part, His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Saqr Al Qasimi expressed satisfaction over the meeting, and said: “The meeting provided an opportunity for us to exchange information and opinions about the way each authority operates, their strategic plans, and future aspirations, as well as the services that each performs in order to integrate our work in the service of a comprehensive development for the Emirate of Sharjah. "
He added, "We have noticed that the work of each authority complements the other and they both meet in one objective namely the implementation of the directives of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah in providing a safe and attractive work environment for the various work sectors in the Emirate of Sharjah. The two authorities are intensifying their efforts in coordinating awareness campaigns about safety and occupational health requirements. The two authorities discussed their initiatives, services and solutions to create positive atmosphere in the business sector, reflecting the vision of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, who calls for giving priority to human development”.
During the meeting, it was decided to form a follow-up committees comprising officials from both authorities, to coordinate and integrating their efforts in order to achieve their goals and tasks, and boost their services to achieve the expectations of Sharjah Government in providing an ideal, attractive and decent work environment.
