Together We Fight Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Location : Industrial and commercial areas of the Emirate of Sharjah

Since the outbreak of corona viruses, Covid-19, the Labour Standards Development Authority in Sharjah took immediate initiatives and actions to enhance protection, health and safety procedures for workers, companies and employers in the industrial and commercial areas of the Emirate of Sharjah including Sharjah City, the Eastern and Central regions.

The LSDA’s awareness initiatives for workers and employers in the Emirate of Sharjah are supported by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and His Excellency Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and Chairman the Executive Council.

LSDA is a member in the National Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Management Authority, as well as many subcommittees such as the Labour Accommodation Inspection Committee and the Business Continuity Team.

Our campaigns have achieved tremendous success because of the full cooperation of the concerned authorities, especially the Ministry of Health and Community Protection, the Prevention and Safety Authority in Sharjah, Sharjah Police, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization, Bee'ah Company, and other authorities fighting the spread of Coronavirus.

The authority has so far managed to reach out for more than 300,000 workers from about 6,000 companies. it aims to reach out to all workers and employers in the emirate with its Covid-19 awareness prevention campaigns by spreading health awareness and delivering the latest prevention measures to them.

Our awareness campaigns cover:

  • SMS messages containing awareness and prevention guidelines against the virus sent directly to the phones of workers and employers in their various languages ​​to their work and accommodation places.
  • Distribution of leaflets and digital awareness videos in several languages, namely Arabic, English, Urdu, Pashto, Filipino, and Bengali, to companies employing workers in the Emirate, to distribute among their workers.
  • Fixing awareness posters, and roll-ups written in several languages ​​at workers’ accommodations, factories, restaurants shops, and all utilities commonly used by workers in the industrial and commercial areas of the Emirate of Sharjah, including Sharjah City, the Eastern and Central Regions.
  • Distribution of a return to work guide written in Arabic, English, and Urdu to companies and workers in the Emirate of Sharjah.

LSDA’s ongoing awareness campaigns for workers and employers cover all print, digital and social media platforms in several languages to help control the epidemic in the emirate, including SMS messages targeting workers in their languages, Arabic, English, Urdu, Pashto, Filipino, and Bengali.
